Mobile gamers who would like to enjoy “Durango: Wild Land” on a larger screen will have their wishes fulfilled as the game is to be made into a TV show soon.

South Korea’s top game publisher Nexon announced Monday that “Durango: Wild Land” will be produced as an entertainment TV show for network MBC. It is the first time in Korea that an online game format is being made into a TV show.

“Durango: Wild Land” is a massive multiplayer online role-playing game that was launched in January. The story is set in a primitive universe dominated by dinosaurs.

Players are taken from the modern world to the primitive one thanks to a mysterious accident. They try to form a society while battling against nature. To survive, they use modern materials and technologies.

Producers Park Jin-kyung and Lee Jae-seok, who were responsible for the network’s “My Little Television,” are in charge of the production. The show will air on Saturdays or Sundays, in the first half of the year.

“By adding the creative elements of a game to an entertainment show, new fun can be created,” said Lee Eun-seok, Nexon’s in-house development studio What!Studio head producer. Lee has also directed the development of the game.

“It will be a content for the whole family to watch together, an opportunity to herald the positive functions of an online game,” Lee added.
