TV personality Kang Ho-dong revealed his hope to become a pop idol in a live broadcast held via Naver’s V app.

Kang’s upcoming E Channel variety show “For the First Time in Life” features an “operation team” helping “clients” try things they have never done before.

In a broadcast held to promote the show Monday, Kang was asked what he would like to do for the first time in his life.

“I want to become a pop idol,” Kang said. “I want to sing good songs on the stage to present to fans. More than anything, I want to get cheers.”

Niel of boy band Teen Top, who also appears on the E Channel show, encouraged Kang, saying, “If you lose some weight, you will take the role of ‘cuteness’ in an idol group.”

“It will be an unexpected charm if you show hip-hop (moves) on stage and cuteness off the stage,” he added.

Kang said if he decides to become a pop singer, he would lose weight. “It will be a lesson to my colleagues in their 40s,” he said.

The first episode of the variety show will air on March 3 at 10:50 p.m.
