Celebrity marketing is an important means of advertisement for fashion houses. Consumers are curious of what stars are wearing outside of shooting scenes and official events. They crave more information about the daily outfits of their favorite stars.

While it was considered more traditional for consumers to buy clothes after seeing the advertisements by celebrities, the order has been reversed. Some celebrities are signed as brand models after they are snapped in their regular clothes, which then sell-out.

Soon, Kang was signed as the brand’s model. An official admitted that the surge in sales led to the modeling contract.

There also was an episode that proved Suzy’s soft power in the makeup industry. Suzy’s lipstick in a fashion photo shoot became a hit. It was rumored that she was wearing a global beauty brand’s lipstick that wasn’t sold in Korea. Consumers ordered the lipstick through foreign websites, paying much more than the original price. Responding to the sudden demand, the brand decided to launch the color in Korea. Customers lined up at the stores, reserving the product. The lipstick sold out before it was revealed that Suzy had actually been wearing a different lipstick.
