'Along With the Gods' surpasses 12 mln mark in attendance

The Korean fantasy blockbuster "Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds" topped 12 million in attendance Thursday, the 23rd day of its run, the film's distributor Lotte Entertainment said.

film became the 10th most-viewed of all time in Korea, beating out "Train to Busan," a 2016 film that sold 11.57 million tickets, and "Taegukgi," which was seen by 11.74 million people in 2004.

"Along With the Gods" is the first installment of a two-part series directed by Kim Yong-hwa and based on a popular webtoon by Joo Ho-min.

Starring Ha Jung-woo, Ju Ji-hoon and Kim Hyang-gi, the film is about a righteous firefighter who is judged in seven hells for 49 days after death, guided by three grim reapers.

Part two is scheduled to open this summer. (Yonhap)
