Gong Yoo and Jung Yu-mi denied Tuesday a rumor that they are in a relationship and are going to get married soon.

Although they refuted the rumor, the actor’s past remarks on the actress resurfaced.

In a broadcast to promote the film “Train to Busan” in 2016, Gong was asked how he felt after Ma Dong-seok “took Jung away from him.”

Gong starred in the 2011 film “Silenced” with Jung, while Jung and Ma played a married couple in “Train to Busan.”

“I will look for her again in my next work,” he said jokingly. “I wouldn’t have let her go if it wasn’t Ma Dong-seok, but (Ma) is one of my favorite hyung.”

Korean men use “hyung” to address older men with whom they are close.

“But if I say it like this, does it put Yu-mi in an awkward position? She will have her own thoughts,” he added.

Asked about playing Ma’s wife in “Train to Busan,” Jung replied, “It was great. He’s reliable and caring wherever we go.”
