According to the Korean Film Council, the film recorded 405,881 cinemagoers, with an additional 16,861 people for the film’s prescreening events.

Industry sources believe the movie will exceed 1 million admissions quickly. As of 9 a.m. Thursday, the movie’s ticket reservations rate came in first at an overwhelming 55 percent. Another 307,335 tickets had already been reserved.

“Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds” is based on popular web comic “Along With the Gods” by Joo Ho-min. The story follows the death of an ordinary man named Ja-hong and the head grim reaper, played by Cha Tae-hyun and Ha Jung-woo, respectively. Ja-hong is judged in the seven hells with the grim reaper guiding the way. Ju Ji-hoon, Ma Dong-seok and Kim Hyang-gi also star in the film. A second part to the story has already been filmed.
