[V Report Plus] ‘Middle-aged diva’ Uhm Jung-hwa still craves vigorous stage

Veteran K-pop diva Uhm Jung-hwa, took to Naver’s V app Wednesday to herald the release of her new album “The Cloud Dream of the Nine Part 2.”

The seasoned pop star, who boasts 20 years in the K-pop scene, said she still feels nervous before putting her work out onto the world. She emoted, “The music video of the title track was unveiled today ahead of the album’s full release, and god knows how I feel so nervous!”

Uhm then shared her initial hesitation for her upcoming stage appearance. “I initially didn’t plan to perform the new song on stage. I thought those on K-pop stages are so young and there wouldn’t be that many stages where I can perform,” she said. “But actually, I was approached with a great suggestion and I will hit the stage before the end of this year.”

She also hinted about a collaborative performance with K-pop starlet Sunmi.

A sneak preview of her new album followed. After playing each song from the new album, she thanked people who contributed to the songs, including Lee Hyo-ri and Jung ryeo-won. “The Cloud Dream of the Nine Part 2” is slated for release at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
