Reports of Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany getting proposed by a Taiwanese fan has gone viral, after Hong Kong’s media outlet Apple Daily first broke the news on Sunday.

According to Apple Daily, the fan had requested to put up his “wedding proposal” sign on Taiwan’s famous Taipei 101 Tower last Friday. On the building’s billboard, the fan’s message read: “Hwang Mi-young (Tiffany‘s Korean name), will you marry me?”

After seeing that his message was clearly observable to many, the Taiwanese fan uploaded a picture of the building with the proposal message on his social media account and wrote: “I wanted to let you know how I feel about you. I wish I can someday show you my feelings in real life.”

It is said that the fan had initially wanted to put out the message in English, but the building restricts the number of characters for advertisements. Thus, the fan explained that he had ”no choice but to propose to Tiffany in Chinese (characters).”

Online commenters expressed their shock and awe at Tiffany’s global popularity, having a fan willing to go to any length possible to capture the singer’s attention.
