Seohyun, a member of Girls' Generation, shines more than ever as she recently declared independence after more than a decade of working with Korea's top management agency.

"I was curious about what would happen if I let go of all those things that I had held in my hands for 10 years," the 26-year-old singer-actress said during an interview with Yonhap News Agency on Wednesday to mark the end of her latest TV series "Bad Thief Good Thief."

Seohyun belonged to the team's agency S.M. Entertainment for 15 years, including during her trainee years.

"I was 12 years old when I entered S.M. and debuted at age 17. Girls' Generation was always busy. With about eight to nine scheduled events a day, we worked all day," she recalled.

And certainly she got overwhelmed by a surging sense of uneasiness and wondered if it would be okay to live without any plans.
"I don't think this decision was one hundred percent right; I want to make it a chance to regain confidence."

Then, would it become hard to see Girls' Generation for the time being?

"Perhaps not," she answered. "I cannot represent all eight members, since Girls' Generation is the only team in the country to remain active for more than 10 years, members are pondering all together over its future path of activities."

Apart from her group's activities, she has established herself as an actress, notably through her participation in the original and Korean versions of various stage musicals, including "Moon Embracing the Sun," "Gone with the Wind" and "Mamma Mia."

She also starred in the television drama "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo." In January, she debuted as a solo artist with her first EP album, "Don't Say No," becoming the third Girls'

Generation member to do so.

"I want to be a genuine actor even though I have a long way to go to achieve this," she said, adding that she is not satisfied with her acting in many ways. "I always think I should make fewer mistakes next time."

She also expressed hope to put out individual albums to keep communicating with the public through music. (Yonhap)
