The bullying rumors surrounding T-ara in 2012 are often cited as what held back the then-rising stars, but another former member of the group says that bullying is quite common in K-pop groups.

During Saturday’s episode of KBS’s audition program “The Unit: Idol Rebooting Project,” former T-ara member Han A-reum said, “Well, every team (in K-pop) has someone who’s being bullied.”

A quarrel with other members of T-ara was among the reasons Han left the group after just one year. There had been rumors that Ryu Hwa-young, a former member of T-ara who is now an actress, was bullied by others in the group in 2012. The incident severely damaged the group’s image and its popularity has never returned to the level seen before the rumors.
