Director Hong Sang-soo announced that his upcoming film “Grass Leaves,” featuring his actress-lover Kim Min-hee, would be shown for the first time at an international film festival, local media Osen reported Friday.

“Grass Leaves” will be Hong’s 22nd feature film and feature Kim Sae-byuk and Kwon Hae-hyo from his previous work “The Day After” and the fifth production working with Kim Min-hee.

Kim Min-hee has previously starred in the following works directed by Hong: “Right Now, Wrong Then,” “On the Beach at Night Alone,” “Claire’s Camera” and “The Day After.” Similar to his previous work, Hong picked his muse Kim to be the main character in “Grass Leaves.” The film will also showcase her partnering actor Jung Jin-young from “Claire‘s Camera.”

It is said that Hong and the “Grass Leaves” staff finished shooting the film in September around Anguk-dong, Seoul.

Compared to the relatively lighter-toned works “The Day After” and “Claire’s Camera,” Hong intends this film to take on a bleak tone. The acclaimed director described “Grass Leaves” to tell stories of “life and death.”

Hong is expected to showcase “Grass Leaves” at an international film festival that is yet to be determined and thus garnering significant attention.
