K-pop boy band Super Junior held a popularity contest among themselves in a V broadcast series titled “SJ Returns -- Super Junior Real Comeback Story.”

The popularity contest, which started as a joke at the lunch table, quickly grew into a serious affair. In heated voices, the bandmates presented their track records in a fierce show-off.

Heechul, who was the person to have appeared on the most TV shows, was initially brought up as the most popular.

Yesung then suggested that Eunhyuk should participate in the audition program “Produce 101” as a singer trainee. Eunhyuk, a veteran boy band singer with nearly a decadelong career on the K-pop scene, dismissed the suggestion as nonsense, but Leeteuk added, “I don’t think Eunhyuk will make it through the first round even.”

The person to rank second in the popularity contest was Donghae. Shindong explained the reasoning behind the decision, saying, “Donghae has never received any negative publicity, nor positive publicity. So no one dislikes him, nor loves him -- the reason why he deserves second place.” Donghae, however, said he has no issue with his publicity level at the moment.

Eunhyuk, Yesung, Shindong and Leeteuk respectively ranked third through sixth.

Shindong said the reason behind his and Leeteuk’s low popularity was that they had received negative publicity from TV appearances, commenting on the risk involved in media appearances.
