Song Joong-ki talked about impeached former President Park Geun-hye in an interview with JTBC’s “Newsroom” on Thursday.

The show’s anchorman Sohn Seok-hee asked the actor how he felt about being mentioned in relation to the scandal involving Park.

The Park administration had reportedly planned to promote Hallyu by centering on Song as he gained popularity with the megahit drama “Descendants of the Sun.” Park had instructed her aides to create a video about his life and to place a life-sized photo in front of the entrance of K-Style Hub, a facility to promote Korean pop culture.

“I was very surprised when my name came out when I was watching the news,” Song said. “I felt a bit bitter.”

When Sohn asked the actor to elaborate, Song refused saying, “Please, show me some mercy.”

Song stars in the film “The Battleship Island,” which was released here Wednesday.
