From Iron Man to Spider-Man... 5 powerful heroes in Marvel movies

But more importantly, it means that one of Marvel’s most popular characters has successfully blended into the humongous and marvelous -- no pun intended -- mix of the “Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
MCU refers to a shared-universe in which a collection of characters in Marvel comics-based movies -- such as Captain America, Ant-Man and the Hulk -- roam around. It ties in the series of recent films released by the Marvel studio and sets up for crossover films like the popular “Avengers” franchise.
Spider-Man has shown some sweet action in the new movie, but here is a list of MCU characters who can really bash the bad guys’ brains in with their brute force.
Hulk

This one should be a no brainer, at least to anyone who has been near a comic book in the 1990s.
What can be said more about Hulk that has not been said already? He is a big, bulking, brute of a man who possess a seemingly-infinite amount of strength, stamina and durability.
Hulk can tear through iron like its paper, get pelleted by a thousand bullets and not have a single mark, and throw a tank like a softball. His uncontrollable rage only seems to fuel his incredible strength that can wreak havoc upon any unfortunate individual, or an army of individuals for that matter.
Unlike his calm, almost-timid alter ego of Bruce Banner, Hulk has pretty severe anger management issues. But he definitely can do some good when his rage is pointed in the right direction, which Captain America proved with his strategic advice to the man-beast: “Hulk, smash!”
Thor
(Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures) |
Thor is one of very few characters in the MCU that can go toe-to-toe with “The Incredible Hulk.” A swing of his mighty Mjolnir sent the green giant flying backwards in “The Avengers (2012),” and the fans would have been kept on the edge of their seats for an exciting fight if it weren’t for those pesky little fighter jets.
Son of Odin is more than just muscles, however. When stripped of his superhuman abilities and exiled to Earth in “Thor: God of Thunder (2011),” he proved that he was also a master hand-to-hand combatant by single-handedly taking out highly-trained government agents.
Iron Man

The enhanced exosuit is equipped with an array of gadgets and technology along with strength that allows him to take on characters with superpowers. He easily disarmed Loki -- an Asgardian with superhuman strength -- in “The Avengers” and was even able to battle Thor, one of the strongest characters in the MCU.
He took the upper-hand for the most part in the two-on-one battle against Captain America and the Winter Solider in “Captain America: Civil War,” which proves while Iron Man’s biggest strength is in his intellect, his actual strength is formidable as well.
Spider-Man
(Sony Pictures) |
Apart from his incredible agility and reflexes, Spidey possesses superhuman strength that can give super-soldiers like Captain American a run for their money. Although still in high school, he is a “kid who can stop a bus with his bare hands,” as he says in the new movie.
In “Civil War,” the wall-crawler easily stops an antagonist-turned-hero Winter Soldier’s metal arm with one hand and playfully says, “You have a metal arm? That is awesome, dude!” It is worth noting that it took Cap both arms to stop that same arm.
Captain America
(Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures) |
A super-soldier serum transformed the 90-pound youngster who was all heart into a hunky super-soldier who eventually went on to lead a band of superheroes.
Captain America can sprint faster than a speeding car, run through locked doors as if they were made of straw, tear apart a chunk of wood with his bare hands, and even stop a helicopter from taking off. Although severely battered himself, he even beat up Iron Man in a tragic of “Civil War.”
But what makes Cap really great is his unconquerable spirit. Even before getting superhuman strength, he would never back down from a fight with much stronger opponents if he felt it for a just cause.
This allowed Cap to come back and win battles that he should have lost, strength-wise. While Steve Rogers has come a long way from a skinny kid being beat up in the Brooklyn’s back alley, his biggest strength still lies in being a guy who never knows when to quit.
