The drama, which will air on Wednesdays and Thursdays, is about young doctors who board a ship to provide medical services to isolated villages on a remote island. In the series, Kang will play Kwak Hyun, a young and warm-hearted physician who has the ability to empathize with others easily. The drama will also feature Ha Ji-won as its female lead.

“Hospital Ship” was originally scheduled to air in July, but it had been postponed to air in August after MBC’s ongoing drama “The Man Who Must Die to Live” finishes.

Kang debuted as a member of CNBLUE in Japan with the EP “Now or Never” in 2009. He has starred in several dramas, such as MBC’s “Heartstrings” in 2011, “The Heirs” in 2013 and “Entertainer” in 2016, which both aired on SBS.
