Seo, who entered the military on March 28, was sent home for a medical re-evaluation just four days after his enlistment as he felt severe pain in his ankle during basic military training. He received a medical re-evaluation on April 27, but was asked to wait for further checkups.

Seo’s label Jellyfish Entertainment revealed Wednesday that Seo had gone through another round of examination at the Central Physical Examination Center Military Manpower Administration in Daegu on June 5. He was diagnosed with osteochondritis dissecans in his left anklebone, resulting in a health ranking that would exempt him from mandatory military service.

Jellyfish Entertainment refused to give out further details about Seo’s condition.

Seo entered the Korean music scene after winning Mnet’s audition show “Superstar K” in 2009. He also made his acting breakthrough in tvN’s drama “Reply 1997” that featured Jung Eun-ji of Apink as Seo’s first love in the series.

Seo dropped a self-composed digital single “Walk Together” as a gift to his fans a day before joining the military.
