FT Island members want to join military together
K-pop band FT Island members said they want to enlist in the military together.
The band held a showcase Wednesday for its new album titled “Over 10 years.” During the interview session, the group answered questions about the members’ career plans.
Group leader Lee Hong-ki said that when to join the military service is a sensitive topic. “We would like to enlist at the same time. We want to be together, whether things work out or not,” he
said.

Another member Song Seung-hyun said, “Enlisting together is a great idea, but I don’t want to be in the same unit.”
In theory, if they begin to serve in the military at the same time, the band can drastically shorten the length of a hiatus. As all members of the group are able-bodied men, they are required to go through approximately two years of military service sooner or later.
The new album was released to celebrate the band’s 10th anniversary and includes a remake of its debut track “Lovesick.”
