Mnet’s hip-hop competition show “Show Me the Money” held a preliminary round for its sixth season on April 29 and 30, drawing an unprecedentedly high level of participation from Korean rappers compared to previous seasons.

According to local media reports, some 12,000 contestants flocked to Samsan World Gymnasium in Incheon to show off their rap skills. Rappers such as P-Type, Nucksal, Kebee, MC Hansai and winner of “High School Rapper” Yang Hong-won were present for the first round of the show.

Rappers Double K and Truedy, the winners of the first season of “Show Me the Money” and second season of “Unpretty Rapstar,” respectively, also applied for the preliminary round. Last season’s contestants Boi B, Microdot, myunDo, Hash Swan and Hanhae also participated in the competition again.

Rapper Kim Jin-pyo hosts the upcoming season, while hip-hop musicians Zico, Dean, Tiger JK, Bizzy, Dynamic Duo, Jay Park and Dok2 take part in the show as producers. The program will stage another preliminary round at Brooklyn Studios in New York on Saturday.
