Kim Jae-joong took to the V app Thursday to introduce his hometown, Gongju, in South Chungcheong Province.

The singer visited the city to attend the honorary ambassador commission ceremony of the Baekje Cultural Festival -- one of the major cultural festivals in Korea -- as he was recently appointed by the committee.

He recollected memories from his childhood by visiting the elementary and middle schools that he had attended.

“Was my school this small? I used to think the playground and the school building were really big at that time,” Kim said.

He encountered students in the elementary school and expressed his delight. “Do you know who I am? I used to go to this school a long time ago. I’m a singer,” he introduced himself.

The teenage boys did not recognize him and said, “Are you really a singer? Not a guy who runs a channel on YouTube?”

He was surprised at their response, but continued showing stunning views and the history of the city on his way to the ceremony.
