Suzy’s contract with JYP Entertainment expires

Singer-turned-actress Suzy is in currently in discussions with JYP Entertainment on whether to renew her contract with the agency which expires on Friday.

The starlet has been with the agency for seven years.

“It’ll take a little more time to make the final decision,” a representative from the agency said. “Suzy is shooting for the drama ‘While You Were Sleeping’ with the support of staff members from JYP Entertainment.”

Suzy will star alongside Lee Jong-suk in the SBS drama tentatively titled “While You Were Sleeping.” The series is to air in the second half of this year on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Suzy debuted as part of the girl group MissA in 2010 under JYP Entertainment. The widely popular artist has enjoyed success as both a singer and actress, and is popular both at home and abroad.

As of January, she has also earned about $8.6 million filming over 30 commercials since appearing in the movie “Architecture 101” in 2012.

Suzy went solo with the mini-album “Yes? No?” on Jan. 24. After a pre-released song “Pretending to be Happy,” the album topped local music charts on Jan. 17.

Suzy will be a free agent from Saturday if she does not renew her contract with JYP Entertainment by Friday or sign a new deal with another agency.
