“Secret,” a 2007 hit film by Taiwanese musician and film producer Jay Chou, will be remade in Korea, the production company Hive Media Corp. said on Wednesday.

“It’s been a while since we bought the film rights. We are done with the script and looking for the director,” the company said.

The production company will start casting the actors as soon as the director is confirmed. The remake of the film will start filming next year.

Unlike the Taiwanese original, the new film will feature the protagonist as a college student majoring in music.

“Secret” centers on a romance between a piano genius Yie Xianglun, played by Jay Chou, and a mysterious girl Lu Xiaoyu, played by Gwei Lun-mei.

The film drew more than 100,000 movie-goers in Korea, for the first time for a Taiwanese film. The popularity led to the film being re-released in 2015.
