Pristin, a 10-member group set to debut Tuesday, is already getting media attention, due to seven of the group having already appeared in a cable TV competition titled “Produce 101” in 2016.

“Produce 101” invited 101 K-pop trainees from various agencies and pit them against each other in a competition for a place in a project group that became I.O.I. From the 101 contestants, only 11 were selected as finalists.

I.O.I disbanded at the end of January this year, as the one-year project came to an end after enjoying a strong popularity.

Kyulkyung, Nayoung, Yuha, Eunwoo, Roa, Xiyeon and Rena -- seven of the 10 members of Pristin ? were among the 101 contestants of “Produce 101.”

Kyulkyung and Nayoung made it into I.O.I as finalists, while the others were knocked out of the competition.

In “Produce 101,” Yuha was known as Kang Kyung-won, Rena as Kang Ye-bin and Roa as Kim Min-kyung. They took up new stage names with Pristin.

As the seven singers have already established a fan base thanks to their media exposure through “Produce 101,” greater expectations are mounting about the new group’s overall performance.

Pristin will debut with its first mini-album, titled “Hi! Pristin,” with six songs including lead track “Wee Woo.”
