BTS’ Jin and Jimin on Monday appeared in the reality TV show, “Hello Counselor,” in which the former showed off unexpected skills at ‘ajae’ jokes.

Ajae is another way of saying the Korean word ajeossi, which means uncle or grown men around the age of an uncle.

Ajae jokes are punny in nature and are considered somewhat old-fashioned. Originally, jokes that evoke weak simpers rather than a good laugh were pinned as ajae-ish, but recently a growing number of people are turning appreciative of the jokes.

Jin promoted his ajae joke skills on TV for the occasion.

“I think ‘Hello Counselor’ has a bit of bubble,” Jin said provocatively, continuing, “Unbelie-bubble.”

“What do you call it when the queen of the ducks stand up?” Jin tried another time.

A regular panel of the TV program quickly answered, “Queen Seondeok.”

Queen Seondeok ruled during the Silla Empire. Because ‘seon’ is the adjective form of the verb ‘seoda’ which means ‘to stand up,’ Seondeok sounds like a standing duck.

“Why are we happy when we’re in the shade?” Jin went for the last time, “Because we hae-ppy.”

‘Hae’ means the sun and ‘pihada’ means to avoid and to escape.

“Hello Counselor” airs every Monday at 11 p.m. on channel KBS.
