G-Dragon is a shoe collector with market-shaping power, tvN’s variety show “The List” revealed on Monday.

The show introduced the singer’s hobby of collecting shoes, especially limited editions. He has shown his interest by posting photos of his shoe collection on his social media accounts.

The superstar not only beats other celebrities to the limited editions, but he also causes the prices of shoes to rise, a phenomenon dubbed “GD effect.”

In March 2016, South Korean rapper Defconn suggested the GD effect on MBC’s “My Little Television.”

According to Defconn, the shoes G-Dragon wore on MBC”s variety show “Infinite Challenge,” which were shown for only a few seconds, soon sold-out. Without the GD effect they would have been left in wholesale stores.

“The price of the shoes soars because you (G-Dragon) wear it! Don’t wear those!” Defconn said.
