Big Bang named best Asian artist at Japan Gold Disc Award 2017

Big Bang swept the recent Japan Gold Disc Award 2017, according to the event’s official website Monday.

The boy band walked away with five awards: best Asian artist; album of the year in Asia for “Made”; best three albums in Asia for “Made”; song of the year by downloads for its song “Bang Bang Bang”; and best music video for the “BIGBANG WORLD TOUR 2015-2016 (MADE) IN JAPAN.”

The boy band expressed its gratefulness through an acceptance message on the website. “It is the fans and those who love our music who have grown us to this moment,” said its members. “To reward your support, we will keep trying our best without losing our first commitment.”

Big Bang topped Japan’s Oricon chart with its album “Made” released in Japan on Feb. 15. The group also attracted some 780,000 fans for its Japan tour “BIGBANG10 THE CONCERT: 0.TO.10 -THE FINAL” from November to December last year.

T.O.P enlisted for his mandatory military service on Feb. 9 and the four remaining members of the group will tour Japan from May through June.
