Producer Shin Won-ho and screenwriter Lee Woo-jeong, who were responsible for tvN’s hit series “Reply,” are gearing up for a new drama, Shin said Monday.

Much to the disappointment of fans, it will not be another installment of the “Reply” series. Instead, their new work will be a prison drama.

“It won’t be too heavy or serious. It will be a black comedy with some pathos in it,” Shin said.

However, the new drama does not mean Shin has given up the “Reply” series.

“If you have an overly great older brother or sister, the second-born gets compared to the older siblings even before the younger one actually starts doing something,” he said, referring to the success of the “Reply” series and how new work would be compared to it. “Therefore it would be better to take a break (from the ‘Reply’ series).”

Details of the new drama, including its title, have not been disclosed yet. The production crew is still in the process of choosing the cast. It aims to hit TV screens in autumn this year.
