BTS rewrites record with ‘Spring Day’

The music video for BTS’ new song “Spring Day” is making history in the K-pop world, garnering over 20 million views on YouTube three days after its release.

“Spring Day” is the lead track from BTS’ latest album, “You Never Walk Alone,” which released Monday.

Roughly 89 hours after it was first uploaded to YouTube, the song’s music video had raked in more than 20 million views, making BTS the K-pop idol group to hit the milestone in the shortest span of time.

The video also stormed overseas iTunes music video charts, topping the list in the US, UK, Canada, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand on the day of release.

On Thursday, three days after the initial release, the album’s “Spring Day,” “Not Today” and “A Supplementary Story: You Never Walk Alone” had comfortably found their place in the list of top 100 iTunes songs by sales volume in the US.

As of 5 p.m. on the same day, “Spring Day” was ranked No. 49, “Not Today” 55th and “A Supplementary Story: You Never Walk Alone” 97th, alongside works by big names like Adele and John Legend.

The album “You Never Walk Alone” contains 18 songs, including some of the group’s past hit singles.

BTS will hold the first concerts for the new album as part of its “2017 BTS Live Trilogy Episode III the Wings Tour on Saturday and Sunday at Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome.
