BTS charging ahead with ‘Spring Day’

BTS is breaking one record after another with impressive preorders for its album, soaring YouTube views and chart-topping performances both at home and abroad.

The boy band released its new album, titled “Wings: You Never Walk Alone,” Monday, a follow-up to and extended version of its second studio album “Wings,” which was released in October.

BTS is expected to see its newest album sell more than 1 million copies in consideration of its past record. Its second studio album, for instance, sold 770,000 copies through January after receiving 500,000 preorders.

“Wings: You Never Walk Alone,” which has already secured over 700,000 preorders, has swept both domestic and international music charts, including Melon, Mnet, iTunes and Billboard.

In addition, the group unveiled the music video for “Spring Day” on Monday via its official YouTube channel. “Spring Day” is the lead track from the latest album. It delivers a warm, comforting and hopeful message. The video generated more than 10 million views on YouTube within 26 hours and 40 minutes, breaking the group’s own record.

Shortly after its release, “Spring Day” ranked No. 8 on the US iTunes songs chart, while another track, “Not Today,” came in at No. 11. BTS became the first K-pop group to make it into the top 10 on the US iTunes chart.

On Feb. 18 and 19, the boy band will showcase its 18-track album at the 2017 BTS Live Trilogy Episode III The Wings Tour concerts at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.
