YG Entertainment is eyeing a business expansion beyond K-pop, as a creator of a wider selection of content.

YG said on Wednesday that it has signed contracts with star producers from major TV networks.

It has been rumored that the entertainment giant is trying to scout the producers but it is the first time the company affirmed the rumor.

YG confirmed five producers to sign with the company: Kim Min-jong (“Real Man”), Jae Young-jae (“Infinite Challenge”), Jo Seo-yoon (“Radio Star,” “We Got Married”), Park Joon-soo (“The God of Music”) and Yoo Sung-mo (“Saturday Night Live Korea”).

YG has long shown interest in TV show production. The company inked unusual contracts with screenwriter and TV personality Yoo Byung-jae and comedian Ahn Young-mi in June 2015. In 2016, it appeared as a co-producer of SBS’ “Flower Crew.”

Other entertainment companies such as S.M. and FNC have jumped into the industry earlier and have been creating their own content since 2015. These moves indicate that the companies are looking to avoid overreliance on revenues from star management.
