Singer Hwang Chi-yeul said he hopes to do more singing in Korea this year, in an interview published in HighCut fashion magazine’s January issue.

Hwang, who was formerly a contestant in the KBS music program “Immortal Song 2: Singing the Legend,” recently became an emcee of the program, along with singers Moon Hee-jun and Jung Jae-hyung.

“Personally, this feels like returning to my roots,” Hwang said. “It’s a little awkward, too, to be hosting a show on which I was once a guest.”

“I was given so much unexpected love in 2016, that I don’t know what to aim for this year,” he added. “I wish to build up on my career as a musician in Korea.”

Hwang has recently been more active in China.

“I’m currently working as a cultural ambassador between Korea and China. Helping the two countries (build an) amicable relationship is another goal for the year,” he said.
