Model and actress Lee Sung-kyung has brought about a new fashion trend in Korea through the MBC TV series “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo.”

Playing the role of a rising weightlifting star, Lee had to gain five extra kilos before the shooting and adopted a new fashion style that is comfortable and trendy.

This new fashion trend is known as ‘Athlesiure,’ a combination of athletic and leisure clothing, and refers to mostly wearing sportswear for everyday activities.

During the show, Lee has worn many sweatshirts with large prints as well as denim jackets that most viewers have easy access to. The accessibility everyone has to these item has been the key to its rising popularity.

However, fashion experts argue that athlesiure fashion is not as easy as it seems. They say that there are chances that the loose fitting clothes may seem too manly. They claim that the secret to Lee’s fashionable look is wearing sportswear with bright colors in order to avoid undermining feminine qualities.
