Earlier this month, cable channel tvN announced that Hollywood actor Tom Cruise would appear on its “Live Talk Show Taxi,” and now the story behind his guest appearance has been revealed.

An actor and host of “Live Talk Show Taxi,” Oh Man-seok, said the Hollywood actor reached out to them first, because he knew the other host of the show, Lee Young-ja.

In 1994, Cruise visited Korea to promote his movie “Interview with the Vampire” and that was when he first met Lee. During the interview, Cruise had carried Lee, upon her request.

When Oh met Cruise, he asked whether he remembered Lee and he responded, “Of course. She was as light as a feather.”

Check out the 1994 interview below:

Cruise has a reputation in Korea for being a perfect gentleman. Last year, he spent two hours on the red carpet signing autographs and taking photos with fans. He had also reportedly spent the most time on the red carpet, among all the celebrities in attendance at the event.

He has visited Korea a total of eight times, making him the most regular Hollywood star to come to the country. This has also earned him the nickname “friendly mister Tom” among local fans.
