South Korean flick “200 Pounds Beauty” is reportedly slated to be remade in Vietnam, raising expectations that the new movie could inherit the success of “Sweet 20,” a Vietnamese version of Korean hit “Miss Granny.”

“Publishing rights of ‘200 Pounds Beauty’ were sold to Vietnam,” an industry source was quoted as saying. “The move aims to spur production of its remake version.”

The source added that a Vietnamese producer will start auditioning for the movie, which will get released in 2017.

“200 Pounds Beauty” starred Kim A-joong for the character of an overweight ghost singer who transforms into a slender pop sensation with the help of plastic surgery. The protagonist goes on to win love from her crush and music director Sang-jun (Joo Jin-mo) with some plot twists.

The original movie grossed some $42 million and drew more than 6 million filmgoers.
