Singer-actress Bae Suzy broke out of her “nation‘s first love” image and exuded a more mature charm for the October issue cover of fashion and style magazine CeCi.

Rather than the sweet, innocent appeal that she is recognized for, Suzy challenged herself to a sexier and more daring look while still maintaining her sweet vibrancy.

Following the photoshoot, CeCi sat down with Suzy for an interview about her life, work and personality.

She was asked if she was a kind person, to which she replied, “I think being kind is not necessarily natural, but it is basic. Before I became a celebrity, I don’t think I was that nice and kind, but as I worked in the industry, I realized that sharing good synergy and maintaining a good vibe is vital.”

The interviewer further asked if being kind all the time is stressful but Suzy casually answered, “I was never forced to be kind and it’s not something that you can just be because you were told to. I think I naturally just became more kind as I tried to keep a cheerful atmosphere on set while working.”

Suzy also spoke about her family, and revealed that she has grown closer to them as she has got older. She emphasized that being honest and open is the key to strengthening family bonds.

CeCi also asked about her image as the “nation‘s first love,” but Suzy explained, “I don’t think being associated with a single image is a good thing. It restricts me from pulling off other images and I want to be a multi-faceted performer.”

Suzy will not only appear on the cover of CeCi Korea, but also on the Chinese issue.
