Wednesday is the first day of the 5-day weekend in Korea in celebration of the national mid-autumn holiday Chuseok. The day is also actor Lee Jong-suk’s 27th birthday. Lee did a V broadcast to thank his fans for the lovely birthday wishes. Park Shin-hye followed his broadcast with some season’s greetings. During her broadcast, Park casually congratulated one of the V audience members whose birthday was that day, triggering fans to speculate if she meant Lee, who she had once been rumored to harbor romantic feelings for.

Actor Lee Jong-suk of TV drama “W” turned 27 on Wednesday, for which he made a short surprise show on V to say hello to his fans.

“Please have a lot of delicious food for Chuseok,” Lee said, referring to the beginning of the national holiday on Wednesday in celebration of the mid-autumn harvest season.

“Some of you are curious what production I’ll take part in next, but ‘W’ is yet to end, so I’ll take my time thinking,” said Lee.

“W” is slated to air its final episode on Wednesday.

Suddenly an employee brought out a birthday cake, to which the happy Lee said he was slightly embarrassed to be celebrating the occasion live in front of his fans.

He thanked the staff and the fans.

Actress Park Shin-hye, who had played the lead female role next to Lee Jong-suk in “Pinocchio (2014),” also aired a surprise V show following Lee.

While talking with the fans, Park said, “It seems like one of you has a birthday today. Happy Birthday. You who were born this day were born to be loved,” quoting a line from a well-known Christian hymn here.

Park also spoke about the record 5.8-magnitude earthquake that shook the Gyeongsang Province on Monday.

“I hope no one was hurt,” said the concerned Park. At the time of the tremor she had been dining with the co-stars from her next film “Silent Witness,” in Seoul, and did not feel it.

Park is listening to Indie music group We Are The Night’s “Tiramisu Cake” and “Star, Fire, Night.”

Park spoke about the relaxing time she had in Portland, US, where she recently spent 10 days for a vacation and photo shoot.

She did the broadcast from a studio for a commercial photo shoot, this time for a cosmetics brand.

Fans asked for the name of the flowers placed behind Park and when she couldn’t give the specific name, fans said they were actually asking for the name of the flower that was talking, meaning Park Shin-hye herself.

Park, bashful, thanked the fans.

“An autograph-signing event will take place,” she said, “But due to the film, all my fan events that had been scheduled for this year will be postponed until next year.”

“Please kindly wait a little,” Park said, adding that she was unlikely to make an appearance at the upcoming Busan International Film Festival.

“I’m staying in Seoul for Chuseok with my family. We are not traveling anywhere,” Park said. Her two dogs are currently in hospital suffering from skin conditions.

Park finished the show to go pick up her dogs.

Groups BTS, Monsta X, Lovelyz, Gugudan, April, Snuper and Map6 each let out a V clip to wish their fans happy holidays.

A few days ago K-pop rookie group NCT Dream aired a V show in which the teenage group members made songpyeon, the Korean traditional rice cake snack for Chuseok.
