Korean state-run network channel KBS is under fire for notifying the cast of an upcoming drama about its cancellation via text message on Wednesday.

The notification came just a few days before a script-reading session was due to take place.

“We were too embarrassed to call each and every actor,” a source from KBS was quoted as saying in Xports News report.

The source explained that they had to notify the cast as soon as possible after they found out about the cancelation of the show on Wednesday.

“We will contact them again,” the source said.

Local reports, citing the cast’s reaction of being “dumbfounded,” blasted the broadcaster for its shoddy and irresponsible behavior. Chief producer of the series Han Joon-seo is currently out of reach.

The KBS 2TV's periodic series, dubbed “Dasan Jeong Yak-yong” in Korean, was to revolve around the life of a scientist during the Joseon dynasty of Jeong Yak-yong and eyed airing in 2017. Actor Yeon Jung-hoon was cast as the historic figure on Aug. 1.
