All members of K-pop girl group Girls‘ Generation have de-activated or ceased their SNS accounts since Tiffany, one of the members, came under fire for posting the rising sun flag, which symbolizes Japanese imperialism. Tiffany had posted the flag as she was in Japan at the time.

The post carried extra weight because it was made on the eve of South Korea’s National Liberation Day, the day the Korean peninsula gained independence from Japan.

Tiffany deleted the image and posted an apology on Monday, “I am sorry for causing trouble on such a meaningful day. I am very embarrassed and regretful about my mistake. I will be more considerate next time.”

None of the Girls’ Generation members have uploaded anything new on their Instagram since Tiffany‘s SNS drew much criticism.

This is the first time that all members of Girls’ Generation terminated their SNS activities at the same time. Even Jessica, an ex-member of the group, has shown no signs of SNS activities since the incident.
