Viewers of the drama “Doctors” recently zeroed in on a small, unrealistic detail shown in a scene: fingernail art.

In Tuesday’s episode of the SBS medical drama, neurosurgeon Yoo Hye-jung, played by actress Park Shin-hye, was seen treating a patient with decorated fingernails

Park on Wednesday responded to criticism that this was “unrealistic” by posting on social media a photo with the nail art removed. She also apologized.

“I will act with bare fingernails in the remaining episode,” Park said. “I decided to put nail designs on to hide my inferiority (about my nails). My decision has fueled such a controversy on online communities.”

“If it looks uncomfortable to viewers, I will wash it off,” Park added. “Of course, I have to. It’s not that hard.”

However, the post still drew negative comments and was later deleted.

SBS production staff said they would be be more careful in the future to avoid such controversy.
