YG Entertainment’s new girl group Black Pink released its debut tracks “BOOMBAYAH” and “Whistle” on Monday at 8.p.m.

The group held its debut showcase at MOSS Studio in Seoul on the day of the tracks’ release. The head of YG Entertainment Yang Hyun-suk was also at the event. Black Pink did not perform live onstage, instead music videos were played. The group’s members appeared to be so nervous and shy that they could barely introduce themselves.

Yang said at the event, “I want to put these girls on stage quick.”

There have been comments that Black Pink is not very much different from 2NE1, which is also under YG and is currently on a two-year hiatus. Netizens say that they see 2NE1 in Black Pink’s songs and that its member Rose’s singing style is similar to that of 2NE1’s Park Bom. They also compared Black Pink’s rapping style to 2NE1’s CL and Minzy, who has since left the group. Black Pink members said that they actually want to resemble 2NE1, but will put more effort into developing their own style.

“At the moment, it is hard for 2NE1 to appear on stage again, so Black Pink must take the lead as YG’s representative girl group,” Yang said.

Yang is confident that Black Pink will “blow people’s minds” through its stage performances.

The K-pop group’s debut tracks topped local music charts on Tuesday, including Melon, Bugs, Genie, Naver Music and Soribada.
It has also ranked No. 1 on the music charts of 14 different countries including Hong Kong, Finland, Colombia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Turkey, Thailand and Vietnam.

Its music videos garnered over 7 million views on Naver TV cast and YouTube.

Black Pink will appear on SBS’ show “Inkigayo” on Sunday.
