The audience had guessed from round 1 that the masked singer who went by the nickname “Romantic Black Knight” was Roy Kim. He beat the singer The One and earned the position as the King of Mask Singer on July 3, and enjoyed three consecutive wins.

The following is the translation of the interview Kim had with Chosun Ilbo:

Q: What are your thoughts on your experience in “King of Mask Singer”?

A: I am happy to have made unforgettable memories. I was initially hesitant about featuring in the program. I decided to take the chance. I thought it‘d be good to wear a mask while singing because then I don’t have to care about my facial expression and can focus solely on my singing.

Q: How did you feel when you first became the King of Mask Singer?

A: I had not expected it at all. I was really happy because it seemed to indicate that the audience held my performance in high regard. The happiness I felt at the moment is indescribable in words.

Q: The audience knew your identity from the first round.

A: I know. I didn‘t think they would guess so quickly and easily. It was funny at the same time that they knew.

Q: What did you gain by appearing in King of Mask Singer?

A: I learned a lot. I gained a lot of positive evaluations and support from the audience.
