The broadcasting rights to a popular South Korean crime drama have been sold to 10 countries, mostly in Asia, the series' cable network said Friday.

"Squad 38," starring the "Superstar K" singing audition winner Seo In-guk, is a thriller about a civil servant and a conman working together to collect taxes from tax evaders.

OCN said the broadcasting rights have been sold to China, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia and New Zealand.

"We didn't have high expectations, but the response from overseas has been good," an OCN official said.

The drama set a record for the channel by hitting a top viewing rate of 5.4 percent during its eighth episode on July 9.

The series airs at 11 p.m. every Friday and Saturday. (Yonhap)
