The film stole the opening-day crown from “Captain America: Civil War,” which hit 729,000 views upon its release last April.

The movie’s total attendance, including previews, hit 1.4 million views, and it is being shown through on a record 1,567 screens.

“Train to Busan” is a story of people’s desperate struggle with zombies on a train to Busan.

It has received both global and local attention since its earlier screening at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
