The iQiYi index of KBS 2TV’s phenomenal TV series “Descendants of the Sun” exceeded that of SBS’s “My Love from the Star” aired in late 2013 and early 2014.

The drama’s iQiYi index on Thursday reached some 5.6 billion, 300 million higher than that of “My Love from the Star” at its height on Feb. 28, 2014.

The iQiYi index, run by Chinese online video streaming service provider and only broadcaster of the series in the nation iQiYi, sums up how many times the video was played and how long the videos were played.

It shows that the series, costarring actor Song Joong-ki and actress Song Hye-kyo and revolving around loves, hopes and struggles among soldiers and doctors dispatched to a faraway area, is more influential in China than “My Love from the Star,” which costarred Korean superstars Kim Soo-hyun and Jun Ji-hyun.

“Descendants of the Sun” has drawn more than 2.3 billion hits on iQiYi as of Saturday. The series will air its final episode Thursday.
