Singer and actor Lee Seung-gi, who recently enlisted in the Special Warfare Command for his mandatory military service, will participate in a drill requiring him to jump from a helicopter flying 800 meters above ground, SWC’s spokesperson said Thursday.

The Special Warfare Command is the special forces arm of the Korean military, which is depicted in the megahit TV series “Descendants of the Sun.”

The SWC spokesman said that every member of SWC has to undergo the training and that Lee will be no exception.

The drill is set to take place from April 11-29.

Prior to the date, Lee will go through preparatory exercises to learn the proper landing posture and other safety guidelines.

Although Lee will train with the squad, he is not involved in combat missions as an administrative support soldier.

SWC special forces units are composed of officers and noncommissioned officers only, excluding soldiers.
