As soon as Korean rock musician Jang Beom-june released his second album Thursday at midnight, the fortnight-long domination of the original sound track of KBS2 TV series “Descendants of the Sun” ended.

Tracks from the 26-year-old Jang’s new album “Jang Beom June Vol. 2,” including “Into the Rain” and “You Fell in Love,” topped local charts Bugs, Mnet, Soribada, Olleh Music, Monkey3, MelOn, Genie and Naver Music, dethroning popular “Descendants of the Sun” tracks including “With You” by Korean songstress LYn, “Talk Love” by ballad singer K.Will and “You Are My Everything” by rhythm and blues singer Gummy, as of Friday at 1 p.m.

Seven out of 10 tracks from the phenomenal TV drama have been released. The latest was “With You,” released Wednesday at midnight, following the release of sixth track “Talk Love” a week prior.

Jang, runner-up on season 3 of Mnet music competition program “Super Star K,” was widely recognized for his uniquely mild voice as a vocalist of trio “Busker Busker.” After the competition show, the band released its megahit “Cherry Blossom Ending” in 2012. Jang made his solo debut in 2014 with “Jang Beom June Vol. 1” and its lead track “Difficult Woman.”
