Lee Byung-hun favorite for Asian Film Award for Best Actor

Korean actor Lee Byung-hun is the favorite to bag the 10th Asian Film Award for Best Actor, a report from OSEN claimed Thursday citing people familiar with the matter.

In one of Asia’s largest international film awards set to take place Thursday in Macau, China, other nominees for the best actor include Japanese actor Masatoshi Nagase for “Sweet Red Bean Paste,” Hong Kong actor Donnie Yen for “Ip Man 3,” Chinese actor Feng Xiaogang for “Mr. Six” and Filipino actor John Arcilla for “Heneral Luna.”

Among Korean actors, Song Kang-ho, who starred in “The Host” and Ha Jung-woo, starred in “Yellow Sea” were awarded best actors in 2007 and 2011, respectively. Other than the two, actors Park Hae-il and Choi Min-sik were nominated in the category.

Lee, 45, enjoyed the spotlight after his movie “Inside Men” became a huge hit in Korea. He has also featured in American flicks such as “G.I. Joe” series, “RED 2” (2013) and “Terminator Genisys” (2015), as well as “Misconduct” (2016) ?due to release in Korea on March 30.

Lee also participated in the 88th Academy Awards in February as a presenter for the Best Foreign Language Film award with Colombian-American actress Sofia Vergara.

Besides Lee, director Ryoo Seung-wan, actors Yoo Ah-in and Oh Dal-soo, actresses Kim Hye-soo, Park So-dam and Kim Seol-hyun have been nominated. Korean girl group Apink will perform onstage during the awards ceremony.
