Actor-singer Lee Seung-gi has joined the Special Warfare Command, local news reported Wednesday.

Lee enlisted in the Army for his mandatory military service in February. After five weeks of basic training at the training camp in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province, he is set to resume his service as a Special Forces soldier.

The 29-year-old is tentatively scheduled to be discharged from his service on Oct. 31, 2017.

All able-bodied men aged between 18 and 35 have to serve in the military for about two years in a country that is still technically at war with North Korea.

Earlier in January, Lee released a single “I Am Leaving for the Army” before the enlistment and topped the local charts.

Lee debuted in 2004 with “Because You’re My Girl,” instantly rising to stardom. Since then, he has made several TV appearances, including “Strong Heart” and “Sisters Over Flowers,” as well as “Two Days, One Night.“
