Korean actor Lee Byung-hun and Colombian-American actress Sofia Vergara appeared on the 88th Academy Awards as presenters for the Best Foreign Language Film award.

The Hungarian film “Son of Saul” clinched the award. The other four nominees were “Embrace of the Serpent,” “Mustang,” “Theeb,” and “A War.”

The 45-year-old Lee has appeared in many American action movies, including the “G.I. Joe” series, “RED 2” and “Terminator Genisys.”
Korean media have described Lee’s presence at the ceremony as “notable,” considering controversy recently over the lack of diversity among Oscar nominees. Some news reports have even described the phenomenon as “whiteout.”

Korean soprano Jo Su-mi also attended the Academy Awards ceremony.
