Actor Byun Yo-han have always managed to delight his fans and viewers with unique roles. His new role as iconic genderqueer singer Hedwig is expected to be a new milestone in his career. The character is the protagonist of Broadway rock musical “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” that enjoys cult-like popularity among its musical fans worldwide.

The opening night of the show in Seoul was back in April 2005 and since then, it has successfully completed nine full seasons -- with a total of 1,650 shows and tickets being sold-out most of the time. The show celebrated its 11th anniversary this year and has added “New Make-up” to its original title, to signify its evolution.

The cast also includes Yoon Do Hyun, Jo Seung-woo, Jo Jung-suk, and Jung Moon Sung -- a quartet known for their concrete musical background.

“I’m honored to be cast along with prominent actors -- I don’t think it’ll suffice to just say that I’ll try my best, not to tarnish their reputation. I’d be lying if I say there’s no pressure, but as I become more immersed in the role, I tend to be more relaxed,” Byun said.

“The most important factor in the show is that the audience believes they’re the ones I should communicate with onstage.”

The new season of “Hedwig and the Angry Itch,” starring actor Byun Yo-han as Hedwig, will start March 1 at Hongik University Daehang-no Art Center.
