Who will be the best couple to shine the screen?

This year looks to be a packed year on the small screen as top stars are making much-anticipated returns, including A-listers Song Hye-kyo, Lee Young-ae, Song Seung-heon and Rain, while hallyu stars Suzy and Kim Woo-bin are also headlining new drama.

Among the plethora of dramas that are set to hit the air, which on-screen couple will build strong chemistry and make viewers’ hearts flutter?

Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo

The two stars are appearing on much-anticipated drama “Descendants of the Sun,” which will premiere in February simultaneously on Korea’s KBS network and China’s iQiyi streaming website.

The drama follows a romance between a young soldier Yoo Si-jin (Song Joong-ki) who is serving as part of the U.N. peacekeeping forces and Kang Mo-yeon (Song Hye-kyo), a military doctor deployed at an overseas military base.

The series will be Song Hye-kyo’s first TV drama in three years, following “That Winter, the Wind Blows” in 2013. It is also Song Joong-ki’s first acting project since the completion of his obligatory two years of military service.

The “Song-Song” couple is already making waves thanks to a few teaser clips of the drama that have been released.

Song Seung-heon and Lee Young-ae

Actress Lee Young-ae is starring in the new period drama “Saimdang, the Herstory,” opposite actor Song Seung-heon. The TV series marks Lee’s return to the small screen after an 11-year-hiatus, after her sensationally popular drama “Jewel in the Palace” in 2003.

She plays the titular role of Shin Saimdang, a renowned female artist, poet who lived in 16th-century Korea and was also and the mother of the Confucian scholar Yulgok. Song plays the fictional character Lee Gyeom, who harbors an unwavering love for his childhood sweetheart, Saimdang. He is dubbed as a Joseon-era Gatsby for his unfailing dedication to his unrequited love.

Kim Woo-bin and Suzy

In real life, Kim is dating actress Shin Min-ah and Suzy dating Lee Min-ho. But for the upcoming drama “Lightly, Ardently,” the two stars are starring as lovers.

In the drama, which will air in July on KBS2, Kim plays a haughty hallyu star named Shin Joon-young, opposite Suzy, who will play No-eul, a documentary producer.

Meanwhile, actress Han Ye-seul and actor Sung Joon are headlining a new rom-com, “Madam Antoine,” on JTBC, which will kick off in January. Han, sometimes dubbed the “queen of rom-coms” will play Go Hye-rim, a fake fortune-teller, opposite Sung Joon, who will take the role of Choi Soo-hyun, a clinical psychologist.
